Mussoorie
Located at a distance of 34 kms from Uttarakhand’s capital, Dehradun lies a small hill station of Mussoorie. Also known as the “Queen of Hills in India”, Mussoorie is situated at a height of 6,600 feet above the sea level and offers commanding views of the Himalayas. Mussoorie is also called “Mansoori” by locals and people living in different parts of the country.Mussoorie was first explored by a British Army Officer, Captain Young who also built a shooting lodge here. It soon gained popularity and many British Officers started exploring Mussoorie during the 1900s. Today, Mussoorie is the most popular hill station in North India and a holiday resort for many during the summers.
Mussoorie Weather
Mussoorie weather stays cool throughout the year but the best months to visit this beautiful hill station is from mid March to mid July. Apart from being the best weather, this is the peak time in Mussoorie and the place is full of tourists. The weather gets very cold during the months of December and January, a time when Mussoorie receives its snowfall.
How to Reach Mussoorie
Mussoorie is easily accessible by Road, Rail and Air. That’s something that makes it very popular amongst tourists. The nearest Railway Station and Airport is in Dehradun which is only 25 kms from Mussoorie. There are daily trains and flights from Delhi. If you wish to come by road from Delhi, it is only 260 kms.
